“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is mere tenacity.” ~ Amelia Earhart
Like any brilliant quote, this one is powerful in it’s simplicity, but for that very reason we often miss the message because we respond with thoughts like, “Exactly” or “Absolutely.” What I’d prefer we say is, “Wow, she’s talking to me! This message is for me.”
Earhart lays it out plain and simple but do you know what percentage of people actually take the first step and act? Not many! If you have been brave enough to work with me (yes, brave) you know that I have most likely dragged you out of your comfort zone to some incredibly uncomfortable place of action. Ironically, the new place isn’t nearly as uncomfortable as you thought it was going to be. It was just that first step that took complete bravery. It’s like an invisible fence—one quick zap and then you’re home-free.
Say this statement to yourself, “I could never do that.” What is the “that” that you would really like to do but believe you never could? With those 5 words you created your own dead end which is based on a lie that you created. You are justifying your decision to stay in your comfort zone. The truth is, you absolutely can do that! That’s the truth. The truth may scare you but it’s 100% true. Now what are you going to do? It’s only a quick zap to get beyond your comfort zone. Just sayin’.
